Find it, talk on it, measure it
One app for the Wi-Fi around you and the people on it. Every reading is measured; where something cannot be measured, the app shows -- rather than making a number up.
Network rooms
Everyone on the same Wi-Fi shares a room β the cafΓ©, the hostel, the lecture hall, the airport lounge. Open the app and say hi. No number to exchange and nothing to sign up for.
Private chats and groups
Direct messages and private groups are end-to-end encrypted (X25519 + AES-256-GCM). Compare a safety code to be sure who you are talking to. Read receipts and typing indicators are yours to switch off.
Offline Nearby chat
No Wi-Fi? Turn on Nearby and chat with people close by over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Direct β no network, no internet, no data plan. Phones relay for each other across a small mesh.
Free Wi-Fi map
Public and venue hotspots contributed by people who have actually been there β cafΓ©s, hotels, stations, malls, libraries. Moderated, votable, and removable on the owner's request.
Speed test
Download, upload, latency and jitter against Cloudflare's edge β the 90th percentile of a proper size ladder, not a flattering average β and a plain answer to "can I video call on this?"
Twelve Wi-Fi tools
Scanner, channel analyzer, signal meter, who's on my Wi-Fi, ping, DNS & IP, password generator and auditor, an encrypted vault, heatmap and a full network Deep Scan.
Phone to phone. Nothing in the cloud.
WiFi Map & Chat has no chat server. That is not a privacy setting; it is how the feature is built.
1 Β· Same Wi-Fi
Phones on one network find each other on the local network and talk directly. The router carries the messages a few metres; they never travel the internet.
2 Β· Nearby, offline
With Nearby on, Google Nearby Connections links phones over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Direct. It is opt-in, asks for the nearby-devices permission first, and can be switched off at any time.
3 Β· Signed and encrypted
Every message is signed with a key kept in Android's keystore, so nobody can post as you. Direct messages and groups are encrypted end to end; network rooms are public by design and labelled so.
4 Β· Stored on the phones only
A chat exists on the phones that took part in it and nowhere else. We cannot read, restore, export or hand over any message β there is no copy for us to have.
5 Β· You control visibility
Hide yourself from people on your network, leave Nearby off, block anyone. A blocked person cannot message you or see you online, and is not told.
6 Β· Delete means deleted
Delete a chat, or every chat, and it is gone from your phone. Delete all chats also replaces your chat identity, so you start fresh to everyone nearby.
Some public networks keep devices apart ("client isolation"). On those, same-Wi-Fi chat cannot connect anyone β turn on Nearby instead. Rules for what you may post are in the Community Guidelines.
Twelve tools, no filler
Each one does a real job. None of them is locked behind an ad.
What this app will not do
Apps in this category routinely claim things that are technically impossible. Here is where we stand, on the record.
It cannot crack a password
There is no feature that guesses, brute-forces or recovers a Wi-Fi passphrase or WPS PIN. None will be added. Any app claiming otherwise is fabricating the result or requires root.
It cannot read your saved passwords
Android provides no interface for this on an unrooted device. The vault holds only what you typed, generated, or scanned from Android's own share-Wi-Fi QR code.
It does not keep your chats
We run no chat server, so no message passes through us or is stored by us. Chat works while the app is open; there are no push notifications from a server because there is no server.
It reports what it measures
"Failed requests", not fake packet loss. Real 90th-percentile throughput. TCP-connect timing labelled as such. People-nearby radar shows how someone is reachable, never where they are.
Almost none of it leaves your phone
There is no account, so there is no profile. Most of what the app produces is written to your device and stays there.
No account, ever
No email, phone number or social login. Your chat name is whatever you choose, and your chat ID is a random key generated on your phone.
On-device by default
Chats, scans, device lists, heatmaps, deep-scan reports, history and the vault live in the app's private storage and are never sent to us.
Location only when needed
Asked when you open the map or need your network's name for its room β never at first launch, never in the background, never sent to other chat users.
Minimised before it is sent
Contributed coordinates are rounded on your device. Full BSSIDs are rejected by our server outright. Network rooms are identified by a hash, not the network's name.
Keys never leave the phone
Chat keys and the vault key are held in Android's hardware-backed Keystore. Nothing in either is synced, backed up to us, or shared.
Delete it all, instantly
Settings β Privacy β Delete everything erases chats, history, vault and profile from the phone. For server-side map records, use the data deletion page.

Who can see me in chat?
People with the app open on the same Wi-Fi network as you, and β only if you turn on Nearby β people close by over Bluetooth. They see the name and avatar you chose. Turn off "Show me to people on my Wi-Fi" in Chat settings and nobody sees you online.
Can you read my messages?
No. Messages never reach us β there is no chat server. Direct messages and groups are end-to-end encrypted. Network rooms are public to everyone on that network, which the app tells you inside every room.
Why can't my friend on the same Wi-Fi see me?
Many public and office networks switch on "client isolation", which stops devices on the network from reaching each other. Nothing an app does can get past it. Turn on Nearby on both phones and you will find each other over Bluetooth instead.
Do messages arrive when the app is closed?
No. With no server there is nothing to hold a message for you. A direct message to someone out of range waits on your phone and sends automatically the next time you are both in range with the app open.
Can it recover or crack a Wi-Fi password?
No, and it never will. Any app claiming to do this is either showing you a fabricated string or requires a rooted device. Free Wi-Fi on the map is shared by people entitled to share it.
Do I need an account?
No. No sign-up, no email, no phone number. Your chat identity is a key made on your phone.
Why does it ask for location or Bluetooth?
Location: for the map's "you are here", and because Android only reveals your Wi-Fi network's name to apps that have it (used to name your network room). Bluetooth / nearby devices: only if you turn on Nearby chat. Each is asked at the moment you use the feature. Details.
Someone is harassing me in a chat. What can I do?
Block them from their profile card or the chat's menu β they can no longer reach you, and are not told. Because chats exist only on phones, we cannot see or remove messages ourselves; if you are in danger, contact local authorities. See the Community Guidelines.
Is the map shared with WiFi Map: WiFi Unlocker?
Yes. Both Epsilon apps use the same community map, profiles and leaderboard, so a hotspot added in one appears in the other. Chat is unique to this app and never touches that backend.
Are core features locked behind ads?
No. Rewarded ads unlock optional extras only, always state the reward before playing, and always offer a decline at equal weight. If a rewarded ad fails to load, the unlock is granted anyway.
